The CONTACT Partnership has a twenty five year history as the collaborative body that brings together University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University and University of Salford to work with each other on appropriate issues.

The aims and benefits of the role of the Partnership are identified as:

• Orchestrating collaboration and joint work where the three members draw on, or contribute to, the brand strength of Manchester.
  
• Providing an ongoing, low cost response to address external demand (largely from public sector agencies) for a mechanism by which “The Universities” (en masse) can be approached on economic development and related agendas.
  
• Working with the various agencies involved in the marketing of Manchester to improve and augment the emphasis on Manchester as a top-quality destination.
  
• Working with city and regional agencies to ensure that higher education activities are well-integrated into economic and social planning processes that relate to the city-region.
  
• Providing a vehicle of convenience for potential future collaborative working as appropriate.
